Fair Deal For Your Local

Fair Deal For Your Local is a campaign group aimed at tackling the problems posed by large pub companies controlling about a third of the nation’s pubs.

Such pubs are ‘tied’ pubs with the tenants operating the pub as a leased franchise from the large company which then restricts the tenant’s ability to purchase beer on the open market; instead the tenant has to buy beer direct from the pub company who can then charge what they like.

The increased costs result as reduced income for the tenant (making the pub less attractive / viable for tenants) and / or higher prices for consumers (making the pub less attractive for consumers).

The campaign is robust and comprehensive and has support from several Members of Parliament. It centres on a belief that tied licensees should be no worse off than other licensees.
